Characterization of Phosphorus Sorption in Calcareous Soils from East Nusa Tenggara, East Java and West Java
ABSTRACT TEDHI DANA PAMUJI. Characterization of Phosphorus Sorption in Calcareous Soils from East Nusa Tenggara, East Java and West Java. Supervised by ARIEF HARTONO and SYAIFUL ANWAR Availability of phosphorus (P) in soils is affected by pH value. Calcareous soils have a neutral until alkaline pH then P sorption affected by calcium ion (Ca), magnesium ion (Mg), and CaCO 3 . However, in the calcareous soils the content of oxyde/hydroxide Fe and Al were identified. It can be observed from the red matrix colour of some calcareous soils. Oxide/hydroxide Fe and Al were supposed to affect P sorption characteristics. The influence of oxide/hydroxide Fe and Al on P sorption in calcareous soils need more studies. The objectives of this study were to characterize physico-chemical properties of calcareous soils and to characterize the pattern of P sorption of calcareous soils. In addition it was to evaluate correlation between physico-chemical properties of calcareous soils ...
